What Feels More Like You?

A friend recently asked me a simple question.

“What have you been doing lately that makes you feel most like yourself?”

It caught me by surprise.

Not because I didn’t have an answer.

Because I realized no one had asked me that in a very long time.

We spend so much of life talking about what needs fixing.

The things we need to improve.

The habits we should change.

The goals we haven’t reached yet.

Rarely do we pause long enough to notice what’s already quietly bringing us back to ourselves.

Perhaps it’s those few peaceful minutes before everyone else wakes up.

Perhaps it’s tending to your garden.

Reading a chapter of a book.

Listening to music from years ago that somehow still knows your heart.

Maybe it’s taking a walk without feeling the need to rush.

Or sitting with a warm cup of tea and allowing yourself to simply… be.

These moments can seem so ordinary that we overlook them.

Yet they often tell us something important.

They remind us of who we are when we’re not trying to meet expectations.

Midlife has a gentle way of changing our definition of happiness.

What once felt exciting may no longer feel fulfilling.

What once seemed too quiet may now feel deeply comforting.

This isn’t about settling.

It’s about becoming more honest.

As we grow, we often discover that peace is no longer found in doing more.

It’s found in choosing what feels true.

The beautiful thing is that your heart rarely shouts.

It whispers.

It lets you know you’re moving in the right direction through a sense of ease.

A little more peace.

A little more lightness.

A feeling that says,

“Yes… this feels like me.”

Those moments deserve your attention.

Not because they’re extraordinary.

But because they’re showing you the way home.

A Gentle Reflection

As you move through this week, notice the moments that leave you feeling lighter rather than heavier.

The moments when you smile without realizing it.

The conversations that leave you feeling understood.

The activities that give you energy instead of taking it away.

Then quietly ask yourself,

“What is this moment teaching me about the woman I am becoming?”

Sometimes the answers we’re searching for aren’t found by looking farther ahead.

Sometimes they’re found by paying closer attention to what already brings us peace.

One gentle choice at a time. ๐ŸŒธ
