What No Longer Fits?

Have you ever reached the end of the day feeling exhausted, even though you spent the whole day doing what everyone else needed?

You answered the messages.

You kept your promises.

You remembered the groceries.

You checked in on someone who was having a difficult day.

You did everything you were supposed to do.

Then the house finally became quiet.

You made yourself a cup of tea, sat down for the first time all day, and without warning, a thought slipped into your mind.

“Why doesn’t my life feel like it fits me anymore?”

Not because your life is bad.

Not because you’re ungrateful.

Just… because something feels different.

Many women experience this in midlife.

The life they’ve built is still there.

The people they love are still there.

The responsibilities haven’t disappeared.

But somewhere along the way, they’ve changed.

The woman sitting quietly with that cup of tea isn’t the same woman she was ten years ago.

She has learned.

She has lost.

She has carried more than anyone knows.

She has become wiser, softer in some places, stronger in others.

Yet she is often still living by expectations that belonged to an earlier version of herself.

Sometimes we keep saying yes because we’ve always been dependable.

Sometimes we keep apologizing because we’ve spent years making ourselves smaller.

Sometimes we keep carrying responsibilities that no one has asked us to carry anymore.

Not because we have to.

Because we’ve forgotten to ask ourselves whether they still belong.

Alignment begins with a surprisingly gentle question.

Not…

“What do I need to change?”

But…

“What no longer feels like me?”

That question isn’t about judging your past.

It’s about honoring your growth.

There is no shame in outgrowing something that once served you well.

In fact, it’s one of the quiet signs that you’re becoming more yourself.

Perhaps it’s a commitment that leaves you drained.

Perhaps it’s the pressure to be everything for everyone.

Perhaps it’s the way you speak to yourself when no one else is listening.

You don’t have to solve any of it today.

Just notice.

Because awareness has a beautiful way of creating space.

And in that space…

new choices become possible.

A Gentle Reflection

As you go through this week, notice the moments that leave you feeling heavy rather than peaceful.

Instead of asking,

“How can I push through this?”

Try asking,

“Does this still fit the woman I am becoming?”

You don’t need an answer today.

Sometimes the kindest thing we can do for ourselves is simply begin paying attention.
